Los Fierros is a remote community located outside Managua. Many men and women are laborers who must spend most of their time traveling several hours to the capital to make money. Because of this, the village is unable to attend to projects within its own community. In recent years, the quality of life has improved. One man told the story of how elders were dying earlier due to the several-mile walk to get water. Now, they use a well. By partnering with Panorama Service Expeditions, students are able to help the village complete its projects and learn about Nicaraguan life. Below, you can see what daily life in Los Fierros is like, as well as some of the projects that were completed during students’ time there. For more information on this partnership, please see the video under “Portfolio.”
Dance in Switzerland
Webster University offers students of the arts the opportunity to take a summer semester at their sister campus in Geneva. Courses in ballet and contemporary dance with many different professors offer students the chance to study dance from a European perspective. During their time in Geneva, students were able to perform for professors and other students, visit Art Basel, and explore Europe as a whole. For more information, please visit my portfolio.
